Hi there! My name is Valeria Morkhat

I'm a Full-Stack Software Developer, originally from Russia and currently living in Germany.

I have almost 3 years of experience developing scalable enterprise B2B SaaS solutions using Dependency Injection frameworks (Spring, Quarkus) in Java/Kotlin and various frontend frameworks (Next.js, Vue.js, Angular).

As a mostly self-taught developer I am driven by an interest in technology and engineering as an ultimate form of creativity. At work, I focus on designing and supporting reliable services that bring value to business, while in my free time I try out new technologies that might not be applicable on the current job market.

My background is in International Relations with a focus on Economics/International business, and after working in roles such as Junior Auditor, Consultant and Marketing Specialist in different companies I decided to do a U-turn and pursue a career as a Software Engineer. I was looking for a fitting career as an individual contributor with a full agency that would offer the intellectual challenge I couldn't get in my previous positions. At the same time, I wanted to leave behind the status-driven soul-crushing corporate track my degree was steering me toward.

I value openness and honesty, as well as technical precision and expertise. This applies not only to my work, but also things I do in free time like academic drawing and sports.

This website is an extended and detailed version of my resume, as well as a stack for the most important portfolio projects and my thoughts.

Full-Stack DeveloperJune 2024 - present
Tech stack: Java/Kotlin, React/Next.js, Quarkus, Spring, JOOQ, Keycloak, PostgreSQL, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions
  • Maintaining end-to-end technical ownership of the customer portal (900+ B2B users), managing sprint planning, release cycles, and task delegation within an Agile (Scrum) setup.
  • Developing scalable full-stack features using Java/Kotlin, Spring, Quarkus, JOOQ, and React/Next.js, with automated Playwright E2E coverage.
  • Contributing to and extending internal IaC tooling and CI/CD automation using Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions.
  • Coordinating with product managers, sales, and cross-functional stakeholders to align technical roadmap deliverables with B2B onboarding requirements.
  • Mentoring junior engineers through structured code reviews, pair programming, and targeted task delegation.
Achievements
  • Grew the B2B customer portal from an initial from-scratch build to 900+ active B2B users, taking full end-to-end technical ownership of architecture, sprints, and delivery; the resulting stack (Backend: Quarkus + JOOQ, Frontend: Next.js) was reused across subsequent projects.
  • Migrated all legacy customer data from MySQL to PostgreSQL without losing any records, and redesigned the data model to support users across multiple organizations.
  • Engineered non-blocking, asynchronous HubSpot API integrations, automating client self-registration sync to CRM and removing duplicate manual CRM data entry for sales account managers.
  • Resolved recurring 504 gateway timeouts in Keycloak user synchronization through deep framework-level debugging and refactoring, restoring reliable user invitation and synchronization flows.
  • Diagnosed excessive Hibernate-generated read queries through production debugging and SQL-level analysis, then refactored ORM access patterns to reduce database load and substantially improve legacy portal performance.
  • Integrated the Model Context Protocol (MCP) into the customer portal, exposing platform components to LLMs via a dedicated MCP server.
Full-Stack Developer, part-timeDecember 2023 - May 2024
Tech stack: Java, Spring, Vue.js, Angular, Hibernate, MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Developed frontend and backend features using Vue.js, Angular, Java, and Kotlin, and performed production debugging of Hibernate-based data access.
  • Conducted production error analysis, debugged live Hibernate ORM queries, and supported the team in migrating legacy data from MySQL to PostgreSQL.
